FoolProof - Teaching Healthy Skepticism

FoolProof - Teaching Healthy Skepticism

Throughout April, we are celebrating Financial Capability Month by featuring a variety of financial education programs and resources that you can put to use in your classroom right away. The 14th resource in this series is FoolProof. Use caution. Question sellers. Rely on research.Use caution. Question sellers. Rely on research. That is the FoolProof mantra which comes from their founding advisor and former journalist Walter Cronkite. FoolProof seeks to encourage young people to have a healthy skepticism. It accomplishes this goal through a video-based platform of financial education lessons.Teachers set up a free account and then customize a set of assignments for their students. With the designated course code, students can log into the site and access the modules, assignments, and/or activities assigned to them by their teacher. Teachers also have access to additional tools including teaching tips and guides, pre- and post-tests, and certificates of completion.

High School - The high school program includes up to 22 hours of free, online, video-driven, self-grading financial literacy instruction. Teachers can assign one, some, or all of the 18 modules, 16 individual activities, and/or 16 group activities included in the program. You can view a video overview to see if the program might be a good fit for you.

Middle School - FoolProof also has a middle school program but has announced that a new and improved program will launch soon. You can preview the content and sign up to be notified when it is available.

Individuals - Want to use FoolProof for yourself or with a child or loved one? Sign up for the Solo version which doesn’t require an associated teacher account.
